BUILD MY / APPS · FIELD GUIDE

Build the workflow before the app.

The best starting point is a useful job the software needs to do.

Follow one user through one task

Describe the person, the trigger, the steps, and the outcome. Where do they get stuck today? Choose one complete workflow instead of a long feature list. The software should make that workflow easier to finish.

Prototype the smallest complete loop

Sketch the input, the action, and the result. A form and a manual process may be enough to test the idea. Show the prototype to someone who would use it and watch where they hesitate.

Plan for the less exciting details

Consider permissions, error messages, accessibility, and what happens to submitted information. A polished interface is only part of a usable product. Decide what the first version must handle reliably before expanding its scope.

Keep building with us.
